The River Krka is definitely the most miraculous one among many rivers of Croatian Karst.

It is known for its waterfalls which, as in the case of Plitvice Lakes, grew out of tufa sedimentation (tufa-sedra, a special kind of lime-stone).

The National Park includes the biggest part of the river together with its coastal part from the historical town of Knin, not far from its spring, to the other historical town of Skradin.

There, after the magnificient waterfalls, the river runs to Prukljansko Lake first and then to a deep sea bay, where another historical town is situated, the town of Šibenik.

The river partially runs through a deep canyon carved in the lime plateau and in some parts it turns into small lakes.

Among many waterfalls, Skradinski buk and Roški Slap (Roški Cascade) stand out for their exceptional beauty. In one part of the lake between the two of them there is the Islet of Visovac with a Franciscan monastery.
